Project Timeline

Summer 2022: Committee selection and criteria setting for honorary naming nominations

August-November 2022: Committee seeks nominations

December 2022: Committee reviews nominations and makes a recommendation to the Chancellor

February 2023: Once/if approved by the Chancellor, we submit the recommendation to the Regents for review

Fall 2023: New building name dedication

Criteria

The nominee’s work and contributions should embody the mission of the School of Education and our commitments to democracy, diversity, equity and justice.

In addition, the nominee should be someone who has supported the education of informed educators, researchers, policy makers and/or community leaders.

We seek a nominee who has transformed the field of education and/or educational practices in pre-K-12 schools and universities.

The nominee should be an alumni, faculty or staff member who has a connection with the School of Education.

The nominee may be living, deceased or retired. According to regental rules, if you nominate someone who is deceased or retired they may not be proposed earlier than five years after their death or retirement. Additionally, the person may not be currently working at the university.
