Scott Battle
CU Boulder Vice Chancellor for Academic Resource Management Ann Schmiesing has appointed Scott Battle as dean of Continuing Education and vice provost, effective Nov. 1. Battle has been serving as acting dean and vice provost following the retirement of Sara Thompson in January 2022.
“Scott brings valuable leadership and administrative experience in higher education online programming to this role,” said Schmiesing. “His creativity and ability to foster collaborative partnerships will be an asset as the campus continues to forge new educational pathways and outreach for nontraditional audiences.”
The dean of Continuing Education and vice provost is the chief academic and administrative officer of the Division of Continuing Education with campuswide responsibility for summer session, outreach and engagement, and implementing a support infrastructure to deliver online educational opportunities in collaboration with campus leadership. The position reports to the vice chancellor for academic resource management.
“I am extremely honored for this opportunity to expand Continuing Education’s engagement with, and service to, the CU Boulder community,” said Battle. “We will focus on the student experience and CU Boulder’s academic strengths in very intentional ways. I look forward to extending the university’s reach to new and more diverse audiences.”
Battle joined Continuing Education in 2016 as assistant dean for online academic programs and director of the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international business from The George Washington University and a master’s degree in strategic management from Claremont Graduate University.
