Mark your calendars for the 2nd annual Culture Crawl on Wednesday, October 19. This campus-wide event will feature activities, performances, games and shows across 14 different cultural heritage sites and groups from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to enter to win a prize package consisting of swag from each of the locations and CU Boulder faculty and staff can stamp their Employee Passport by participating.
This week we are highlighting our final groups: Sandbox, the HIVE, CU Museum of Natural History, NEST Studio for the Arts and the Music Library.

Sandbox
Sandbox is a student theatre group that puts on unique productions throughout the year. Sandbox offers student artists of all disciplines, whether they’re an actor, designer, director or manager, a safe space to play with big, experimental and creative ideas.
Stop by the Sandbox photo booth outside of the University Theatre Building from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. on October 19 and pose with scenic and prop pieces from different Sandbox shows, take a quick picture with your friends and learn more about Sandbox.
The HIVE
The Hub for Innovation and Vibrant Expression (The HIVE) in Hellems 159 is a social spot for CU Boulder's language learning and teaching community. Visitors of the HIVE can chat with others in different languages at Conversation Tables, borrow language resources and experience language learning in virtual reality.
Participants of the Culture Crawl are invited on October 19 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. to stop by The HIVE and listen to live world music.
CU Museum of Natural History
The beginnings of the CU Museum of Natural History started in 1902 when Junius Henderson was appointed curator. Since then, its collection has grown from a handful of objects to nearly five million and has the largest natural history collection in the Rocky Mountains. Today, the museum fosters exploration and appreciation of the natural environment and human cultures through research, teaching and community outreach.
On October 19, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., participants are invited to visit the museum’s BioLounge to create an upcycled art project, take a free highlights tour to learn the stories behind some of the objects in the collection and gather with your fellow museum buffs! Tours start on the hour and last 25 minutes.
NEST Studio for the Arts
The Nature, Environment, Science, and Technology Studio for the Arts (NEST) is part of the larger campus-wide Grand Challenge initiative, and explores the interrelation, generative overlaps and productive differences between arts-based and science-based disciplines. Visitors of NEST can view exhibitions connecting with this mission.
During the Culture Crawl on October 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., engage in the NEST Mural Quest. Participants can pick up a Mural Quest Test card and quest instructions at the NEST Studio, located in the CASE building, RM 250. Return completed tests to NEST between 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. on the day of the Culture Crawl to be eligible to win a prize.

The Music Library
Not only is the Music Library filled with bright comfortable seating and other study areas, it also houses one of the largest and most important music research collections in the Mountain West. The collection includes scores, recordings, books, periodicals and sheet music.
Visit the Music Library on October 19 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to peruse the strange and glorious history of music notation.
