Grounded Knowledge Panel™: The Arts as Resistance, Relationship, and Restoration

The Crown Institute presents the first in a spring series of Grounded Knowledge Panels™ (GKP): The Arts as Resistance, Relationship, and Restoration.

Date:
Wednesday, February 23, 2022
Time:
6:00 - 7:15 pm MST

The Crown Institute has worked with Dr. Valerie Joseph (Smith College, MA) to curate a season of Grounded Knowledge Panels™ that excavates down through the complexity of our experiences to the heart of what is meaningful and relevant to our healing as individuals, communities, relationships, and social systems.

Our panelists have distinguished themselves as individuals who are extraordinarily devoted to the compassionate and dignifying upliftment of others, especially those in under-served, under-valued, and under-seen communities. Their leadership, communication, and work ethic have brought forth critical under-truths that question and challenge conventional understandings and strategies for change. Their breakthroughs have galvanized incredible transformations in and beyond their own communities. Panelists (in alphabetical order):

  • Assetou Xango; Empowerment Coach for Black Femmes and Founder of the Dark Goddess Collective
  • Dr. Kalonji Nzinga; CU Boulder Faculty, Cultural Psychologist and Director of the RAP Lab, and Lyripeutics
  • Dr. Melita Belgrave; Associate Dean (ASU) music therapist, also certified in aging studies, and professor of music education
  • Nii Armah Sowah; CU Boulder Dance Faculty, Awarded the Carson Library Legend of Dance Award

Come listen, be moved, and refreshed. This event is free and open to all, so you are welcomed to share it with your contacts beyond CU Boulder too. Our program will be in a webinar format, so get comfortable to partake of some seriously nourishing and enlightening conversation.
