Are you ready to let your competitive side out? Do you want to meet fellow Buffs for some friendly and exciting competition? Getting competitive might just be what you need to find your community at CU.

There are many opportunities on campus for you to connect with people and organizations that fit your interests. Here are some ways to connect with others if you love winning and competing.

Discover campus programs

There are different ways to compete against fellow Buffs no matter your interests. Whether you’re great at video games or have the knowledge of Google, there’s something for everyone. Here are some places to get started.

The Connection: The Connection is CU Boulder’s fun hub. Located on the first floor of the UMC, this hot spot is your go-to place for many competitive activities. Challenge your friends to bowling, pingpong, trivia, video game tournaments and more. You can also check out board games to feed your competitive spirit.

BuffConnect: BuffConnect is CU’s student club portal. With over 500 student organizations, there is something for everyone. The list is organized by category to help you find organizations or a club that matches your interests. Start by searching the groups in the recreation and wellness, social or sport club categories.

Intramural sports (IM): Intramural sports gives you the chance to get connected to campus, meet fellow Buffs and compete in a variety of sports and activities. IM sports are open to everyone. Whether you are new to a sport or experienced, create a team with friends or register as a free agent, there’s a place for you. Purchase an IM Sports Pass to play in leagues and tournaments throughout the semester.

Attend events

As the old saying goes “a little competition never hurt anyone.” Attending events is your chance to meet people that share your interests and try new things. Be on the lookout for activities you can be a part of to put your competitive skills to the test!

Try things on your own

If you’d like to create your own competitive games with your friends, here are a few suggestions for things you can set up to have a great time.

  • Set up a relay race with your buddies. Set up a goal to run around Norlin Quad or Farrand Field and see who wins.
  • Play a board game – you can check one out from your residence hall community center or at The Connection.
  • Gather some friends and try an escape room.
  • Challenge a friend to a one-on-one HORSE match.
  • Create a scavenger hunt.
  • Sign up for a biking or running race.
