Planning to study abroad? Apply for a passport today

Go abroad for spring 2022

Education Abroad has semester, year-long, summer, and even winter break programs. But if you want to go in spring 2022, connect with an Education Abroad advisor soon. Deadlines for spring programs range from Sept. 1 to Oct. 1.

U.S. passport processing is currently experiencing delays due to COVID-19, with regular processing now taking up to 18 weeks. If you are thinking about studying abroad in 2022 and need to apply for a new passport, CU Education Abroad recommends applying as soon as possible.

Things are ramping back up for CU Education Abroad, and passports are the first step in international travel. In order to apply for entry into another country, you must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months past your return date—some countries require up to 18 months validity. If you do not currently have a valid passport, you should apply for a new passport immediately. See the State Department's website for more details.

More information can be found at Passport Operations in Response to COVID-19, and as always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to abroad@colorado.edu with any questions or concerns at all. Go beyond Boulder, buffs.
