The campus will conduct a test of the CU Boulder Alerts system at 12:30 p.m. MDT on Thursday, March 18, to raise awareness of the platform. The test will include text and email notifications, as well as notifications across multiple social media platforms.

Prior to the test, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to check the accuracy of their contact information in the alerts system.

  • CU Boulder students: You are automatically registered using your Colorado email address. We ask that you add a mobile number during course registration periods and update as needed in the Buff Portal. A student step-by-step guide is available.
  • CU Boulder faculty and staff: You are automatically registered using your Colorado email address. Manage your mobile alerts number and update the information as needed in the MyCUInfo portal. An employee step-by-step guide is available.
  • CU Boulder partners with @cu.edu, @cufund.org, @cusys.edu, @ucdenver.edu or @cuanschutz.edu email domains must still register and maintain their information at the CU Boulder RAVE system webpage.
  • Affiliates who are not a student, faculty or staff member and who do not have one of the emails domains listed above can opt-in to CU Boulder Alerts to receive texts by texting “cuaffiliate” to 81437.

If an emergency involves a threat to personal safety or a campus closure, a campus alert will be sent using one or all of the communication methods available. Text messaging and desktop pop-ups are the backbone of the system, as they reach the most individuals in the least amount of time.

During an emergency that affects the campus, critical updates, additional details and any necessary instructions regarding the nature of the emergency will be posted at alerts.colorado.edu, in university social media channels and in a recording on the campus Emergency Information Line at 303-492-4636 (303-492-INFO).
