Human Resources has added two new diversity learning and development opportunities at no cost in addition to sharing a comprehensive Racial Equity Tools Glossary.

Making Virtual Meetings Inclusive: Exploring Equity Gaps

CU Boulder faculty and staff are invited to join Human Resources for a training focused on understanding potential inequities in virtual meetings.The purpose of this one hour online course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills for making virtual meetings inclusive.

Course objectives

  • Identify ways that people may be feeling excluded in virtual meetings
  • Name common barriers to inclusion in virtual meetings
  • Identify equity gaps in virtual meetings
  • Apply strategies to mitigate barriers in virtual meetings

    • April 21, 2021 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm
    • May 18, 2021 from 11:00am - 12:00pm
    • June 21, 2021 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Becoming an Inclusive Leader (6 week series)

The purpose of Becoming an Inclusive Leader series is to provide supervisors, managers, leaders and aspiring leaders at CU Boulder with the knowledge and skills to lead their teams to be more inclusive and equitable, as well as the ability to create a sense of belonging among team members. CU Boulder is committed to advancing the IDEA Plan and building an inclusive culture on campus. 

Each Wednesday for six weeks, CU Boulder supervisors and aspiring leaders will meet on Zoom to address varying aspects of diversity and inclusion.

Weekly objectives

  • Week 1: Understand how a leader's lived experiences, identities, biases, and leadership style influence their role as a supervisor/manager in creating an inclusive environment.  
  • Week 2: Select inclusive strategies to support a sense of belonging for their teams. 
  • Week 3: Apply inclusive practices to retain and engage direct reports. 
  • Week 4: Examine ways to increase their intercultural competence. 
  • Week 5: Develop inclusive habits for managing performance. 
  • Week 6: Design a making excellence inclusive plan to operationalize the IDEA Plan. 

While a six week commitment is highly recommended, participants are welcome to join as their schedule allows.
