Picks up first career conference honor
SAN FRANCISCO — Fresh off a near triple-double performance at Utah, Colorado's Jaylyn Sherrod earned the Pac-12 Conference's Freshman of the Week honor.
Sherrod led the Buffs to their 12th consecutive win on Sunday. She recorded her first-career double-double scoring a season-high 19 points and handing out 10 assists. The 5-foot-7 point guard also snagged seven rebounds, six of which came on the defensive glass. Sherrod shot 46.2 percent from the field and was 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.
The honor is her first of the season and CU's 11th all-time. Peanut Tuitele was the last Buff to earn the award, also in December last season.
Colorado is off to its first 12-0 start since the 2011-12 season. It is also the Buffs' first 1-0 open to the Pac-12 season since 2011-12.
The Buffs remain on the road this week with a pair of games against top-ranked opponents. Colorado will head to No. 2 Oregon on Friday and finish at No. 3 Oregon State on Sunday.
