The Rocky Mountain Regional Ombuds Day Event will take place at CU Boulder's Wolf Law Building on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 3:30–7 p.m.
The American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution (ABA DR) has designated the second Thursday of October as Ombuds Day to coincide with Conflict Resolution Month.
This year’s theme is, “Ombuds: Unusual name. Important service.”
Ombuds (also known as ombudsman and ombudsperson) assist in the resolution of concerns. There are several different types of ombuds. Ombuds Day is an opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of the different types of ombuds programs, highlight the value ombuds provide, and encourage greater implementation and use of ombuds programs.
“Ombuds offices help enhance governance, ethics, and risk management strategies, contributing to the overall well-being of public and private organizations, government, and the public community,” said Kirsi Aulin, director of CU Boulder’s Ombuds Office and president of the Certification Board of Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioners.
