Join our campus community in reading Sabrina & Corina by Colorado author, Kali Fajardo-Anstine. Selected as this year's campus one-read, the book is a collection of short stories that feature a diverse set of experiences against a backdrop of Colorado.
“The University Libraries will be ordering multiple copies and encourage all of the CU community to read this book,” said Assistant Professor and Librarian Lindsay Roberts. “We hope local bookstores will also have copies available for purchase and that people participate in book discussions during the Diversity & Inclusion Summit in November.”
Chosen to expand and deepen awareness of identity and belonging, Sabrina & Corina will be discussed at book discussions across campus during the 2019 Diversity & Inclusion Summit, November 12 and 13.
“In the Diversity and Inclusion Summit Planning Committee’s effort to reach all students, faculty and staff, the One Read is becoming a staple event particularly as a collaborative effort with the University Libraries,” said Alphonse Keasley, associate vice chancellor for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement (ODECE). “Having a book written by a Colorado author may provide insights that are useful for appreciating our diversity and inclusion.”
The 29th Diversity and Inclusion Summit offers two days of workshops and interactive experiences to help reduce fear and uncertainty, learn on many levels, and develop skills and tools for effective inclusive practices.
The summit planning committee is composed of representatives from the chancellor’s advisory committees, Staff Council, student affairs, athletics, and the city of Boulder.
The Diversity and Inclusion Summit is a free conference open to CU Boulder and CU System students, faculty, staff, campus affiliates, and city of Boulder personnel.
The University Libraries has both print and ebook copies available for the campus community to participate in the One Read.
