Update 4:34 p.m. 6/23/2019: The upgrade is complete, and the EDB service is operating normally.

Update 9:55am 06/23/2019 - Work is continuing on the planned EDB Oracle upgrade. We are currently waiting on the Oracle upgrade assistant process, and we anticipate that this will run longer than the current established outage window (6am - 10am). There is no estimate available for completion at this time.

The production Enterprise Database (EDB) service will undergo maintenance on Sunday, June 23, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. The maintenance will impact services that are dependent upon the Enterprise Database, including Federated Identity Service and services that rely on it for authentication and logins (see Impact and Affected Services below). To minimize the overall impact, this maintenance was scheduled during regular UIS maintenance.

Impact

Services that are dependent upon the Enterprise Database, including Federated Identity Service and services that rely on it for authentication and logins will experience an outage for approximately four hours (see Affected Services below).

The Registry Jobstream will be disabled on Sunday, June 23, and other automated jobs related to data feeds, extracts, and provisioning of third-party systems will also be down during the maintenance window.

Affected Services

The following services are dependent upon the Enterprise Database and will experience interruptions during the maintenance:

  • Federated Identity Service/Shibboleth (fedauth.colorado.edu) and services that rely on it for authentication and logins, including: Canvas, MyCUHub, MyCUInfo, Student Printing, and more (MyCUInfo will already be down due to UIS maintenance). Existing logins in Canvas may be able to continue using the service, but new logins will not be possible during the maintenance window.
  • Grouper (mygroups.colorado.edu, mygroups-ws.colorado.edu)
  • Northstar (northstar.colorado.edu)
  • Book Store data retrieval (via MyCUInfo)
  • Learning Management Systems course creation and enrollments
  • Oracle Identity Manager backfill of data to the EDB will be queued up during the maintenance and processed when complete (e.g. user display name changes via identikey.colorado.edu will not immediately propagate to the EDB)
  • IdentiKey Quick Provisioning (Continuing Education)
  • Batch data integrations and feeds
  • Data integrations APIs
  • Mobile MyCUInfo (m.colorado.edu/mycuinfo)

Email logins will not be impacted.
