CU, Boulder police chiefs welcome you back

On behalf of the CU Boulder Police Department and the Boulder Police Department, we want to welcome you back for the second semester of the 2018–19 school year. Maintaining a safe environment is a top priority for all members of our departments while you are on campus and in the city. A key component of that goal is keeping you informed about crime, crime prevention, services and campus safety issues.

The best way to be informed about criminal activity and crime prevention tips is by following us on our social media channels. CUPD is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can find us by searching for CUBoulderPolice. Last week, we shared how and when we notify you via various communication channels if a serious crime occurs on campus.

Boulder Police post important safety alerts on Nextdoor and Twitter under @BoulderPolice. The city of Boulder also utilizes uses an emergency alerting program called Everbridge and outdoor warning sirens to notify the community about immediate public safety threats, such as floods. Sign up for Everbridge by visiting www.boco911alert.com and receive alerts by text message, email and/or on your cell, home or work phone.

While we are separate police departments, we often work and train together. CU Police is responsible for patrolling campus property and will help in the city. Boulder Police has the responsibility in the city and will help on campus. Regardless of our jurisdictions, we work together to maintain a safe environment for you.
