Barranquilla is the dream Caribbean escape from the frigid winter months of Boulder. Soak up the ‘eternal summer’ and be immersed in Colombian culture, from delicious traditional Colombian dishes to its iconic Carnival celebration every February.

Interested in the fashion industry? Enchanted by the power of clothing? Fascinated by the impacts of style on culture?

Over three weeks this summer, this Global Seminar explores the power of fashion in constructing identity and inciting resistance throughout France’s history. Students will experience the influence of style through art, literature and hands-on experiences. Meet fashion photographers, models, guest experts in fashion and more.

ISA Netherlands: Amsterdam Science, Liberal Arts & Business Courses with Locals
Apply by Sept. 17 for spring 2019 term

Spend a semester abroad exploring Amsterdam’s scenic canals, beautiful architecture, and laid-back culture. The program offers excursions to Brussels, Paris, and all around the Netherlands. Students can take courses at one of the Netherlands’ top research universities with courses already approved for four A&S core areas, Engineering Humanities/Social Science credit, and 11 different areas of study.

Global Seminar: The Athlete as a National Symbol (Lima, Peru)
Apply by Dec. 3 for summer 2019 term

For its inaugural year, this Global Seminar will be kicking off with three weeks this summer in Lima, Peru, to examine how sport shapes culture, identity and society. Lima will host the 2019 Pan-American Games (similar to the Olympics) in 2019, making Peru an exciting place to study the impact of sport on national identity, meet athletes, earn credit and explore South American culture.

Education Abroad course types

Global Seminars are CU faculty-led programs, usually 3–6 weeks long in the summer. They provide a high level of structure and support for students. Global Seminars are theme-based and often fulfill specific CU degree requirements.

Ed Abroad Exchange (EAE) programs are opportunities where students can directly enroll at a university abroad and take courses with locals. They create a more immersive, independent and affordable experience.

ISA, IES and SIT are study abroad organizations that CU Boulder partners with, offering programs onsite. These programs may run in a variety of different formats.

Catch a Manchester United game

CU students now have the opportunity to study at the prestigious University of Manchester, which ranked 34th in the 2018 Academic Ranking of World Universities. Outside of class, enjoy a Manchester United game, visit one of dozens of museums, or meet locals on the lively Manchester music scene.

The quintessential French experience

IES France: Nantes French Language Immersion & Area Studies
Apply by Oct. 1 for spring 2019 term

A semester or year in Nantes is the quintessential French experience—full immersion in language and culture, with courses designed to enrich your understanding of France. Live with a local host family, enroll in classes with local French students and enjoy IES-arranged excursions around France.

This program is for the advanced French speaker looking for good food; a beautiful, historic city; and a desire to integrate into daily French life.

Madagascar and Jordan are back!

Education Abroad is excited to announce that our Jordan and Madagascar programs are available again!

Students can once more study Arabic, Middle Eastern culture, and health and humanitarian action during our programs in Amman, Jordan. The SIT Madagascar: Antalaha Biodiversity & Natural Resource Management program gives students the chance to study and conduct research on the conservation of Madagascar’s rich ecosystems.
