Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Christina Gonzales has named Sandy Jones as the dean of students. Jones began with the Division of Student Affairs on Aug. 20.
Jones comes to CU Boulder from the University of California, Irvine (UCI), where she most recently served as the director of community and local government relations. Previously, she held several student affairs leadership roles at UCI that included advisement of undergraduate and graduate student governments, student media and student organizations.
"With Sandy’s wide-ranging experience in higher education, including the oversight of student activities, student government and her leadership in crisis communication and government relations, I look forward to her joining the division and bringing a new perspective on how we can best support students,” said Gonzales
Jones looks forward to working with the student affairs leadership team and collaborating with campus partners to develop innovative new programs that both enhance the student experience and support CU's mission to educate the next generation of citizens and leaders.
“I am excited and honored to be a part of the CU Boulder community,” said Jones. “I am eager to meet and begin collaborating with students, staff, faculty and administrators to help create a campus environment that is supportive, engaging and inclusive to all students.”
Jones received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles; a master’s degree in education in postsecondary administration and student affairs from the University of Southern California; and a doctorate in higher education administration and policy from the University of California, Riverside, where she was recognized as a Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellow.
