For welcoming and moving in thousands of first-year students, it takes helping hands and a bit of patience.

Eagerly, the campus community has provided just that in the past two weeks, resulting in a smooth and successful transition for countless families and the class of 2022.

Staff members, returning students, campus leadership and others, totaling more than 2,000 volunteers, helped lighten the heavy lift with their participation. Many donning Buff gear, they cheerily greeted families, swiftly unloaded cars and carefully moved boxes, not without visits from the spirited Chip.

But the CU Boulder welcome traditions do not end when the last box is delivered to its residence hall destination. Including Convocation, Welcomefest, the Be Involved Fair, CU on the Hill, CUnity Fest and more, hundreds of free activities, continuing through Aug. 31, help students kick off their CU Boulder careers with important connections.
