The CU Boulder Ombuds Office is pleased to announce Professor Emerita Yem Fong has been hired as a faculty ombuds.

Professor Emerita and Faculty Ombuds Yem FongFong joins CU Boulder Faculty Ombuds Lee Potts and Jerry Hauser in providing confidential consultation services, including informal coaching and assistance in the resolution of conflicts, complaints and disputes involving persons affiliated with CU Boulder. Having joined CU as a faculty member in 1989, Fong brings to the position 29 years of CU Boulder experience.

“We are thrilled to welcome Yem to our team. She brings a fresh perspective to the work we do, and her training and experience enrich the services we provide,” said Ombuds Office Director Kirsi Aulin.

Fong has taught and held positions at CU Boulder, as a director of departments in the libraries and liaison to Ethnic Studies and Women & Gender Studies. She has served on numerous committees, including the Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Committee, the Graduate School Executive Advisory Council, the Research Cabinet and the Chancellor’s Committee on Women.

She also is a founding member of the national Center for Asian Pacific American Women and its signature leadership program, the Asian and Pacific American Women’s Leadership Institute. She is a graduate of University of Colorado Colorado Springs, the University of California, Berkeley; and the Japan America Institute of Management Science. Her scholarship focuses on scholarly publishing models and diversity and leadership issues for women.
