About

While the Conference on World Affairs hosts over 100 speakers and performers during one week in April, the Speaker Series is designed to focus on individual distinguished guests, as a means of extending the cultural and intellectual environment of the CWA throughout the year.

The CWA Speaker Series was established in 1998, inspired by the tradition of an ancient Greek Athenaeum (for which it was originally named) where poets, philosophers, and orators gathered to read and discuss their work. The CWA Speaker Series encourages interdisciplinary explorations of ideas and draws together students from various colleges on the CU Boulder campus. CWA Speaker Series guests are hosted by students for the duration of their stay. These visits typically include classroom visits, an evening talk or performance that is open to the public without charge, and a social event with students, faculty, staff, and community supporters.
