Mike EdwardsMike Edwards, CEO of eBags.com, will discuss a retail perspective on technology and real estate at the Fall 2017 Knowledge Fest. Hosted by the CU Real Estate Center (CUREC) at the Leeds School of Business, Edwards’s talk will focus on how real estate is a tool, beneficiary and victim of change that is poised for an encore performance. 

The lecture will take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the History Colorado Center in Denver. The event, which includes breakfast, is open to CU Real Estate Council members, non-members and current CU Boulder students.

Advance registration and a paid ticket are required. Tickets are $20 for students, $30 for Young Alumni Board members, $40 for CUREC members and $50 for non-members. To register, visit the RSVP page.

Edwards has led brand transformations and business turnarounds for some of the leading names in industry using entrepreneurial skills and extreme creativity. As the former head of global merchandising for Staples, Edwards was responsible for merchandising strategy and new business development, as well as the vendor programs for the retail, online and contract sales divisions.

Prior to Staples, Edwards was hired as CEO of Borders to attempt a recovery of the company as it tackled massive headwinds of changing market dynamics. He has also served as president and CEO of lucy Activewear, where he led the reinvention of the specialty retailer, taking it from just 10 stores and no ecommerce capability to over 60 stores and a successful web business. 

This quarterly CU Real Estate Center council meeting will focus on what the future has in store. Innovation, technology, big data and consumer trends are key drivers channeling the course for tomorrow’s real estate.
