Staff Council 2017

Staff Council 2017-18 representatives

CU Boulder Staff Council serves as a voice for staff and as a liaison between staff employees, the university and state administration. Our mission is to represent you and champion your rights through policy advocacy and campus community involvement.

With the 2017–18 elected representatives now in place, we will strengthen our advocacy efforts in partnership with the chancellor and organizations across campus as we align with the campus’ Strategic Imperatives. Our aim is to initiate conversations about some of our campus’ biggest challenges.

CU Boulder has a rich history of shared governance with Staff Council, Student Government and the Boulder Faculty Assembly representing the campus’ diverse stakeholders and participating in the decision-making process. We believe strongly that as representatives, it is our duty to raise issues of concern on campus and help change the conversation to make sure that even our most persistent problems are addressed and solutions are implemented.

During this past year, we have done a lot of listening to our fellow staff and co-workers at events on campus like our successful Staff Appreciation Field Day and through our Staff Council Town Halls, where we encourage you to share your thoughts and participate in the discussion. A couple of the topics you have brought up as important to your success at CU Boulder and your professional development include:

  • The need for paid-parental leave for university and classified staff
  • The tuition benefit and barriers to registering for classes

Staff Council is currently addressing both issues and many others so that we can aid in finding creative solutions to these long-standing problems.

We encourage each of you to contact your Staff Council 2017–18 representatives with questions, comments, general input, cat memes or just to touch base regarding what you ate for breakfast. We would love to hear from you!

We also hope you join us for our annual Ice Cream Social at 11 a.m. on Sept. 14 in front of the Center for Community.

We look forward to serving as your Staff Council co-chairs and representatives!
