Faculty members discussing LMS initiative

Over the last few weeks, the Learning Management System (LMS) Evaluation Initiative has hit some major milestones as they prepare to make the final selection of the campus LMS.

In April, the lead team narrowed five candidates to three finalists: Brightspace by Desire2Learn, Canvas by Instructure and Moodlerooms by Blackboard. Open sessions were held for the campus community to learn about each finalist’s LMS offering and ask questions.

Faculty, students, and staff also evaluated test courses on each platform, took part in user experience studies and validated requirements. Read the full progress report to learn more.

What’s next? The project team has compiled data gathered from the campus visits, test course evaluations, user experience studies and the requirements validation activity into a summary report. The faculty and IT working groups will review this report, score vendors according to the evaluation criteria and make a recommendation to the Lead Team.

If you're interested in providing feedback before the final decision is made, please fill out the online form.

The Lead Team will review the report and the two working groups’ recommendations and then communicate their decision to the executive sponsors Vice Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education Mary Kraus and Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer Larry Levine.

Kraus and Levine will announce the final decision to the campus via CU Boulder Today on Tuesday, May 16.
