SEEC buildingThe next Engaged Scientist Series lecture and workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19, and will focus on "Uses and Practices of Community Dialogue in Geosciences and Environmental Sciences."

As communities increasingly grapple with problems of resiliency and environmental health and safety, scientists who are prepared to help are needed. The Engaged Scientist series of free public talks and associated workshops for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers aims to equip scientists with community engagement skills.

Boulder Talks Directors Phaedra Pezzullo and Leah Sprain of the CU College for Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) will give a public lecture on fostering community dialogue from 4 to 5 p.m. Please RSVP online if you plan to attend. Although registration for the lecture portion of the event is requested, it is not required.

Pezzullo, Sprain and Susan Sullivan, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) education outreach director, will then co-lead the associated workshop for graduate students and post-docs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Pre-registration for the workshop is required, and dinner will be provided for participants.
