Students discuss religion in Holly Gayley's First-Year Seminar Religious Studies course

Looking for an alternative to large lecture courses? Want to fulfill a degree requirement by discussing superpowers, ghosts, Lord of the Rings or revolution? It's not too late to add a course or adjust your spring schedule. All freshmen and sophomores are invited to take a First-Year Seminar class this spring semester.

Limited to 19 students, these courses provide an excellent opportunity to get to work closely with faculty, meet peers with similar interests and work with upper-division student mentors. The First-Year Seminar series approaches critical thinking and academic curriculum on a completely new level. We asked our inventive professors to develop courses that focus on unusual topics (e.g., Pink Floyd or Star Wars) and structure those topics to meet our rigorous academic standards.

To register for a First-Year Seminar spring class:

  1. Search FYSM 1000 in MyCUInfo. You will see each topic has its own section number.
  2. Enroll in the topic that interests you most, or schedule an appointment with your advisor through MyCUHub to learn how a First-Year Seminar course fits into your academic plan.

For more information on each course, including which degree requirements each course fulfills, visit www.colorado.edu/fys.
