Dr. Umar SaifThe ATLAS Speaker Series will feature Umar Saif on Monday, Nov. 14, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the Roser ATLAS Center. Saif's presentation will discuss leveraging technology for human need.

Saif is a Pakistani computer scientist and entrepreneur known for his work using ICT solutions on developing-world problems. Often credited as one of the main forces behind the IT ecosystem in Pakistan, Saif is the founder of Plan9, Pakistan's largest startup incubator.

With over 118 startups under their belt, Plan9’s vision is "to instill the culture of tech entrepreneurship and achieve sustainable growth for early-stage, product-based ideas by providing domain-specific mentorship and investment opportunities to create commercially viable technology startups from Pakistan."

In 2011, Saif was included in the MIT Technology Review's list of 35 Top Young Innovators, joining the ranks of renowned past honorees Sergey Brin of Google and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg.
