With October being Domestic Violence Awareness month, CU wants to remind the community of the policies in place that prohibit this type of conduct.
Based on CU policy, intimate partner abuse (including domestic or dating violence) is defined as any act of violence or threatened act of violence against a person with whom the individual is or has been involved in a sexual or dating relationship. This includes threats, assault, property damage and violence/threat of violence (either to one’s self or family members) when used as a method of coercion, control, punishment, intimidation or revenge.
For more information on CU’s policies, visit the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance.
If you would like to learn more about options for reporting incidents, please contact CU’s free and confidential Office of Victim Assistance (OVA) at 303-492-8855 or by email at assist@colorado.edu. OVA is an advocacy and trauma-informed counseling resource for students, faculty and staff. If you are concerned about a friend’s relationship, we are also here to help those who support victims and survivors of intimate partner abuse.
