Buffs Crack Top 25 In National Polls

CU 21st in AP, 23rd in coaches' poll

BOULDERMike MacIntyre's Colorado Buffaloes found themselves ranked in the nation's top 25 on Sunday, the first time the Buffs have cracked the top 25 since early November 2005, when they went into the 10th game of the season ranked No. 22.

On the heels of a convincing 47-6 win over Oregon State, which came one week after a 41-38 win at Oregon, the 4-1 Buffs checked in at No. 21 in the Associated Press poll and No. 23 in the national coaches' poll.

CU also continued to receive votes in the Football Writers Association of America's Super 16 poll, collecting enough points to come in 21st in that poll of college football writers across the nation

The Buffs received votes in all three polls last week. But after several teams in last week's top 25 lost Saturday, the Buffs earned enough respect from the voters to move into the top 25. The No. 21 spot in the AP poll is the highest ranking for the Buffs since 2003, when they entered Week 3 of the season at No. 17.

The Buffs, whose 2-0 Pac-12 record puts them atop the Pac-12 South standings, play at Southern California next Saturday in the Coliseum (2 p.m., Pac-12 Networks).

The Trojans (2-3, 1-2) are coming off a convincing 41-20 victory over previously unbeaten Arizona State.

Colorado is 0-10 all-time against the Trojans, with the most recent game a 27-24 USC win in Boulder last season.
