Two University of Colorado Boulder faculty members have been elected fellows of the prestigious American Association for the Advancement of Science for 2015. 

The AAAS fellows are Professor and Chair Cora Randall of the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC) and the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), and LASP Senior Research Associate Michael King. They were among 347 AAAS fellows elected by their peers for efforts to advance science and its applications. 

Randall was honored for her distinguished contributions to atmospheric sciences through innovative, multidisciplinary research, particularly energetic particle precipitation and satellite measurement validation, as well as for extensive and dedicated service. King was honored for his distinguished contributions to the remote sensing and analysis of clouds and aerosols and for years of distinguished scientific leadership of the multi-satellite Earth Observing System. 

The new AAAS Fellows will be presented with an official certificate and a gold and blue rosette pin during the 2016 AAAS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. next February.

AAAS is the world’s largest general scientific society. It was founded in 1848, and includes 254 affiliated societies and academies of science. The mission of AAAS to advance science and serve society through initiatives in science policy, international programs and science education.
