Join us for a free special event at Fiske Planetarium at 2:00 pm on April 23, 2022.  CU student actors will present three scenes from the Department of Theatre and Dance Roe Green production They Promised Her the Moon by Laurel Ollstein, against the backdrop of the planetarium dome.  They Promised Her the Moon tells the true story of aviator Jerrie Cobb and the Mercury 13: a group of women who underwent rigorous psychological and physical astronaut training but were ultimately denied entry into the space program based on their sex.

Associate Professor Tamara Meneghini directs and will moderate a conversation to follow about women in space with the playwright Laurel Ollstein, members of the cast, and Professor of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences Frances "Fran" Bagenal.

This event is made possible with the generous support of donor Roe Green through the Roe Green Visiting Artist fund and additional support from CU Boulder's Nature, Environment, Science & Technology (NEST) Studio for the Arts, a network of faculty, students, centers and campus units that combine artistic practice and scientific research to explore our common and disparate ways of observing, recording, experimenting and knowing.
