Beginner Scuba

This four-day course will teach you the basics of scuba diving and prepare you to become SSI certified, a lifetime certification that allows you to comfortably and safely explore the other 70% of our planet! You will need to bring a swimsuit, T-shirt, socks for the pool, paper and a pen. Diving equipment is provided.

Orientation: We will hold an orientation session for students in all course sections. SCUBA instructors will give an orientation to the SCUBA course, answer any questions, and conduct the required swim test. All SCUBA students will have to successfully complete a swim test either at orientation, or on the first date of your course.

Requirements:

  • Participants must be Rec Center members.
  • Participants must have basic swimming skills and be able to swim 200 yards using strokes other than the doggy paddle.
  • Medical history form required.

If you have epilepsy or asthma, you must provide a physician's note to participate.

Classes will meet at the Outdoor Pursuits classroom to start each day.
