CU Opera provided the student vocalists for the lead roles in the Colorado Music Festival’s presentation of Hans Krasa’s “Brundibar” June 28-29, 2012. Jessi Goebel and Lukas Graf played the young heroes, Anniku and Pepicek, in search of milk for their ailing mother.

Tesla Quartet Places at Multiple Competitions

The Tesla Quartet, graduate string quartet-in-residence at the CU College of Music, has earned the Gold Medal in the Senior Strings Division of the illustrious Fischoff Chamber Music competition. After several rounds of rigorous competition, the Tesla Quartet emerged with the gold medal in the senior strings division along with a $3,000 cash prize. In addition to the prize money, the Tesla Quartet will participate in a tour of the midwestern United States in October.

CU Chamber Ensembles to Participate in Fischoff Competition

Three chamber ensembles, all of differing instrumentation, have been accepted to compete with top musicians from across the country in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Based on audition materials and applications, the Zenobia Quintet, the Flatirons Brass Quintet and the Tesla Quartet have all been accepted into this illustrious competition.
