As the Assistant Dean for Budget + Finance, Carrie Howard serves as a member of the Dean’s Cabinet and is charged with budgetary management and oversight of financial and HR services for the College of Music.
Howard joined CU Boulder in 2008. Prior to joining the College of Music in 2019, she was Director of Finance + Administration for the Graduate School (2015-2019), Business Director for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival (2011-2015) and an Area Accountant in the Campus Controller’s Office (2008-2011). Howard earned an AOS in dramatic arts, an AAS in accounting, a BS in business management and an MBA from the CU Boulder Leeds School of Business.
In addition to her background in accounting and public and nonprofit management, Howard has an extensive background in theatre and has drawn from this experience to facilitate a number of workshops on campus for students and faculty. These workshops utilize improv theatre games to help participants develop skills that can be used to communicate their research more vividly and conversationally. Past workshop participants include undergraduate and graduate students, 3MT participants and Research + Innovation Office (RIO) Facuty Fellows.
