CU New Opera Workshop, this is your chance to experience an opera being built from score to floor July 25-August 7!
By the time an opera production hits the floorboards,composers and performers have spent years transforming theatrical ideas and music for the stage. Brand new in 2010, the CU New Opera Workshop gives you the rare opportunity to observe this process and find out just what it takes to get an opera production off the ground. Each weekend of performances features an acclaimed opera composer working with CU singers on a new opera, on its way to a professional world premiere. Sit back, relax, and experience opera from the ground up. This year’s featured composers are Robert Aldridge, Herschel Garfein, and Daniel Kellogg. The featured guest artist is Anthony Dean Griffey who will perform a special recital to open the workshop.
