Lodging

We offer housing for students, researchers, organized K-12 events, and conference attendees. 

  • 1 lodge for 32 people (8 sleeping rooms, 4 beds each). Rent entire building only. Year round.
  • 2 apartments (2 bedroom). Year round.
  • 4 summer cooking cabins (1-2 bedroom). June 01 - Sept 30
  • 36 summer basic cabins (1-2 people). June 01 - Sept 30

Course students: Your tuition covers lodging. Summer courses use the basic cabins. Winter courses use the lodge.

Reservations required

Housing is in very high demand during the summer field season. Lodging reservations are required for everyone except course students. Please contact us well in advance of your group's needs. Connect with the Station Manager a minimum of 3 business days prior (Mon-Fri) to your intended arrival date. Share your full contact information, organization affiliation, proposed dates, number of guests, overnight facility type request (lodge, cabin, etc), day use facility requests (conference facilities, etc.), and purpose of your stay. 

Cancellations less than 2 weeks before your reservation may be subject to a 25% cancellation fee.

Payment: Non-student users will be invoiced after their stay. Payment is due within 30 days.

The University of Colorado Mountain Research Station generates the majority of its operational funds from fees charged to researchers, undergrad courses, and other users. Individual students in an undergrad course do not pay fees directly. Instead, they pay via their tuition, which covers their food and lodging.

Moores-Collins Lodge

Thanks to a generous donation from the Moores-Collins family, we were able to build a a new year-round lodge in 2003. Open for conferences, courses, and retreats, the lodge holds 32 people. It is fully equipped with a kitchen, restrooms, showers, and a meeting space. Rent entire building only. Meeting space is an optional extra charge.

The lodge has a self-service kitchen, a large meeting room (24 person capacity) with projection screen, WiFi, and houses up to 32 people in eight, 4-person rooms. Separate men's, women's, and non-gender / ADA restrooms are located inside the lodge. Bedding for single bunk beds is not provided. 

Winter course students: Your tuition covers lodging in a 4-person room.

Ponderosa apartment

The Ponderosa/Lodgepole duplex building has two similar, adjacent apartments and is located near the Kiowa and Marr labs. Each apartment is two stories tall, with stairs between the levels. Each apartment has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, full kitchen, and propane heat. 

Only the Ponderosa apartment is potentially for rent.

Open year round.

WILLOW summer cooking cabin

1 bedroom loft, 0 bath, 0 kitchen, running non-potable sink water, utilizes community bathhouse, electricity, and electric space heaters.

 

 

Summer basic cabins

A small rustic cabin elevated a few feet on stone pilings

36 non-winterized cabins (1-2 person).  Each is 1 bedroom (single bed or 2 bunk beds), utilize community bathhouse, electricity, and electric space heaters.

These cabins are small and rustic, have twin sized beds, wardrobe/dresser, table, chairs. No sheets, blankets, or pillows are provided.

Summer course students: Your tuition covers lodging in a basic cabin (single or shared) and meals in the dining hall.
