Our team
Our small-but-mighty team works with hundreds of researchers, students, and other visitors annually. We support research projects, maintain long-term datasets, and manage courses, operations, and facilities. We also provide field logistics and safety support. Much of our work is in close collaboration with our research partners, especially the Niwot Ridge LTER.

Scott supports the broader research mission of the MRS and leads the Station’s education and outreach efforts.
His role includes consulting on and approving research permits, helping ensure that projects are well coordinated, scientifically aligned, and compatible with long-term stewardship of the site. A central part of his job is close coordination with partner programs such as the Niwot Ridge LTER and NEON, working across shared landscapes to align research, education, and infrastructure around common scientific goals. He also sets development priorities, promotes strong fiscal ethics, and helping ensure the long-term financial health of the Station.

Mike oversees all site operations, ensuring that the MRS is maintained, organized, and functional for researchers and students. His duties include facilities management, staff coordination, compliance and safety, administrative support, and public representation. Mike has a PhD from CU Boulder and was an Assistant Teaching Professor in the university's Sociology department.

Dave is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all of the buildings and utilities at the MRS. He monitors the water and wastewater per our state regulations. He also helps researchers where he can in their day-to-day operations.

Jen leads the collection of Niwot climate and hydrological field data and runs remote data acquisition communications for our meteorological stations and environmental sensor networks. She also helps with all aspects of field logistics, as well as training and supervision of field staff, undergraduate summer technicians, and winter interns for many of our research partners. Jen is currently also earning her Master’s degree, advised by Noah Moloch (CU Boulder, GEOG & INSTAAR).
Graduate assistants
MRS graduate assistants help organize field courses at the station, manage the website, lead public tours and outreach events, and support daily operations with general administrative tasks.
