Professional Research Assistant: Lab Manager in organic and trace metal geochemistry
Profs. Julio Sepúlveda and Tom Marchitto are seeking a full-time laboratory manager to oversee the Organic Geochemistry and Trace Metal Labs in INSTAAR and the Department of Geological Sciences at CU Boulder. The starting date is flexible, although Fall 2022 is preferred.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and organizational skills to oversee instrumentation in gas and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-QQQ-MS and HPLC-Orbitrap MS), and magnetic sector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Our research groups investigate organic and inorganic chemical signatures in both modern and ancient sedimentary systems to address key questions in oceanography, biogeochemistry, paleoceanography and paleoclimatology, and geobiology.
What we require:
Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences, engineering, or related fields.
At least one year of demonstrated experience with the operation and maintenance of mass spectrometers and peripherals.
Ability to train and supervise students, post-docs, and research staff in laboratory methods.
If you're a CU student interested in working in a lab, please contact the Professor or Researcher who manages the labs you might like to join. Some positions are also listed on the CU student jobs website (CU IdentiKey required), or posted in departments. But starting a conversation with a professor who is an INSTAAR researcher remains a good way to find an INSTAAR student job, especially if it's a research assistantship you're after.
