FEATURED EVENTS
NASA’s Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft were launched in 1977 and flew past Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Nearly half a century later, they are now about 5 times farther than Pluto from the Sun and are in the interstellar medium, having left the sphere of influence of the Sun – the Heliosphere. The Voyager mission opened our eyes to many different new worlds. Dr. Fran Bagenal will present the glories of Voyager and discuss current and future exploration of the outer solar system.
CU Boulder students are admitted FREE on THURSDAY NIGHT TALKS with valid Buff OneCard.
Journey beyond the mind through the visionary art of Android Jones, inspired by India’s ancient Vedic wisdom to re-examine the inner world of consciousness, offering a unique journey through the self and the cosmos. With the soundtrack curated by Tipper.
Join us for a special presentation by Mr. Ravis Henry, a member of the Diné/Navajo Tribe for an evening of storytelling and observations of the night sky. Ravis will share Navajo winter stories of creation and the stars, along with the Navajo perspective of various constellations.
Take a seat, close your eyes, and just for a moment imagine a world where clothing never existed. The development of tailored clothing dramatically improved people’s ability to keep warm. Without clothing, human populations would never have solved the adaptive challenges involved in migrating across the world during the last Ice Age, a cold, harsh environment where mammoths and giant sloths roamed the Earth.
Join Dr. McKenna Litynski, a Postdoctoral Associate with the Museum of Natural History to investigate the adaptive processes that enabled past humans to inhabit diverse, and often challenging, environments.
