Students in graduation caps

The School of Education has one meaningful Graduation Ceremony each year. The ceremony is held in May and is for all Education Minor, Leadership Minor, Teacher Licensure, MA, and PhD degree recipients. If you graduate or complete student teaching in the spring term, the following summer term, or the previous fall term, you are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony.

 The 2019 School of Education Graduation Ceremony & Reception will take place on Thursday, May 9, 7:30 p.m. at Macky Auditorium.

Graduates should arrive at the School of Education at 7 p.m. Tickets are not required. Please feel free to bring your family and friends to help celebrate your success.


Rented or purchased required academic regalia — cap, gown, tam, tassel — is required for attending graduates. Undergraduate, minor, and post-BA students’ regalia should be purchased from the CU Book Store in the UMC. MA, MA+ and doctoral students’ regalia can be rented or purchased. Orders can be placed online and have strict order and pick-up dates. Visit the CU Boulder Commencement website for more details.


Guests should find a seat Macky Auditorium. Parking around Macky is limited, and guest are encouraged to allow extra time and arrive early. Parking tips:

  • Disability and elderly parking will be available in Lot 380. Lot 380 is located East of Macky Auditorium adjacent to (Southwest of) the CU Boulder Recreation Center.
  • Parking is available for $1.25 per hour along University Avenue.
  • All CU Parking lots (not meters) are free of charge on May 9.
  • Euclid AutoPark, on the Northwest corner of Euclid and 14th Street is also free of charge on May 10th.

Graduates and faculty will new to check in and line up at the Education Building. In case of inclement weather, check the School of Education twitterfacebook, and instagram feeds on the day of the event for possible weather-related changes to the location for check-in and the graduate procession
