The IEC is looking for qualified homestay families to host international students for short and long-term programs. IEC homestay families welcome our students as members of their families and help them adjust to life in the U.S.

What are the benefits of hosting an international student?

Hosting is an excellent way to learn about the world and other cultures. By opening your home to an international student, you open a student’s eyes to life in the U.S., helping to foster cross-cultural communication and understanding. The student becomes a part of your family, creating a lifelong friendship.

What is required of a homestay family?

  • Provide a clean, safe and nurturing environment.
  • Welcome the student as a member of the family.
  • Provide nutritional, well-balanced meals. Dietary restrictions (allergies, vegetarian/vegan, and religious diets) must be accommodated.
  • Provide the student with reasonable use of the house and amenities, including blankets, linens, towels, access to bathroom and laundry facilities, a private bedroom with a desk, chair, dresser, closet, and bed.
  • When necessary, provide transportation to and from school, activities, and events.

Will I receive financial compensation for hosting an IEC student?

Homestay families receive a modest stipend for meals.
