Course Information

Text: Essential Calculus, Second Edition (with Enhanced WebAssign), by James Stewart (ISBN 9781133425823). Note that WebAssign access is required for online homework. The ISBN given here comes bundled with a WebAssign access code that will be good for Calculus 3 as well.

WebAssign: Online homework can be found on WebAssign. If you purchased a WebAssign access code previously, you should be able to reuse the same code. Otherwise all students will have a two-week grace period of access from the beginning of the semester after which they will have to purchase access. If you have a used copy of the textbook, WebAssign access codes can be purchased separately online.

Desire2Learn: Lecture notes, homework answers, and student grades will be posted to D2L.

Homework

Written Homework

Here is the written homework schedule. Written homework will be collected every Tuesday during recitation. Homework problems can be found on D2L.

Online Homework

There is also online homework through WebAssign.

Follow these steps to view the online homework:

  1. First your instructor must add your name to the WebAssign roster. (This will be done automatically the day before classes begin.) If you join the class after the start of the semester, please ask your instructor to add your name to the roster. Your instructor will need your full name, colorado.edu email address, and your CU Identikey.
  2. Visit webassign.net.
  3. Enter your CU Identikey username and password.
  4. Enter or purchase your 16-digit WebAssign access code.
  5. If you are enrolled in more than one WebAssign class, select "APPM 1360" from the My Classes menu.
  6. Current homework assignments will be listed under My Assignments.
  7. You will have 100 chances per problem to enter the correct answer, except for multiple choice problems which will allow just one submission.
  8. The recommended browser to use for WebAssign is Google Chrome.
  9. For general WebAssign help, visit the Student Support page.

There will be three midterm exams and a comprehensive final. Five blank bluebooks must be purchased and given to your TA by the second recitation (Tuesday, Jan 23). Note that books, notes, calculators, and any other electronic devices will NOT be allowed during exams.
