The 2016 Chancellor’s Employee of the Year Award is presented to CU Boulder staff members Sheryl Koutsis, Amy Lavens and Jennifer McDuffie in recognition of and appreciation for exceptional job performance and remarkable contributions to the campus community.

CU Boulder has received a $1.1 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop next-generation vaccines that require no refrigeration and defend against infectious diseases with just one shot.

A CU Boulder student team learned in a conference call with NASA that they have been named a finalist in NASA’s CubeQuest Challenge, which is focused on finding innovative solutions to deep space communications using small spacecraft.

CU Boulder has received the annual Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award, based on a lasting commitment to diversity and inclusion.

A team of astronomers, including one from CU Boulder, used the super-sharp radio vision of the National Science Foundation's Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) to find the shredded remains of a galaxy that passed through a larger galaxy, leaving only the smaller galaxy's nearly-naked supermassive black hole to emerge and speed away at more than 2,000 miles per second.

In honor of the nation's veterans, including CU Boulder faculty, staff and student veterans, the university will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at the University Memorial Center (UMC), followed by the grand opening of the newly-renovated Veterans Memorial Lounge.

The University of Colorado Boulder has been selected to lead a $15.3 million effort to better understand how to improve the sustainability of water, sanitation and hygiene interventions in the developing world.

Author Ronald J. Stewart will speak about his book "Then Comes a Wind," a story about a family's struggle to homestead in 1900s Nebraska, on Nov. 10. Stewart will sign copies of his book (which will be for sale at the event) immediately following the presentation.

The Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure and Safety (VCIS) is responsible for the physical and public safety of the campus; long-range capital planning; real estate development; architecture; design and construction; the operation and maintenance of all campus facilities; emergency management; environmental health and safety; sustainability; and campus logistics. The newly created American Politics Research Lab, housed in the Department of Political Science, aims to involve undergraduate and graduate students in taking Colorado's political pulse every year. “This is the first year of what we hope will be an ongoing record of opinion on public affairs within the state,” said political scientist Scott Adler.
