Protective Services
What We Do
Protective Services provides planning, coordination, and discreet support tailored for each engagement. Our work emphasizes prevention, preparedness, and partnership.
Services may include:
- Protective planning and coordination for university leadership
- Security planning support for official functions and select campus events
- Risk assessment and advance preparation in coordination with DPS and CU Police
- On-site protective presence appropriate to the campus environment and event needs
Protective Services complements existing public safety resources by focusing on coordination and readiness, supporting campus safety without duplicating law enforcement functions.
Our Approach
Protective Services operates within CU Boulder’s open campus environment using a measured, adaptable approach that prioritizes safety while minimizing disruption. The team emphasizes:
- Discretion: Maintaining a professional, low-profile presence
- Communication: Coordinating closely with DPS, CU Police, and campus partners
- Awareness: Proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks
- Adaptability: Responding effectively to changing conditions and needs
All Protective Services operations are conducted in accordance with university policy and in close coordination with the Division of Public Safety.
