Emergency Management
If you are experiencing an emergency or in immediate danger, please call 911.
Emergency Planning provides a framework for how campus departments and partner agencies respond to major emergencies on campus. This includes prioritizing all campus affiliates and responders, protection of university assets, maintenance and continuity of campus services, protection of the environment, and restoration of general campus operations.
Through planning, drills, tabletop exercises, and full-scale simulations, Emergency Management brings together internal staff and external partners to test procedures, strengthen communication, and identify areas for improvement. This ongoing training helps ensure a timely, organized, and effective response to emergencies that protects lives, property, and the community.
Business Continuity, or Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP), helps organizations keep achieving their goals when experiencing emergency impacts like reduced capabilities or being displaced from your workplace.
Emergency operations focus on coordinating and managing the university’s response to incidents that threaten safety of those on campus, property, or continuity of operations at CU Boulder. Through the use of established emergency plans and close coordination with campus partners and local first responders, emergency operations ensures a structured, scalable, and effective response to emergencies. This approach supports timely decision-making, clear communication, and rapid recovery for the campus community.
