Portrait of Quigg Newton

Quigg Newton

The Newton Chair in Leadership was created to honor Quigg Newton's extraordinary leadership as the Mayor of Denver from 1947 to 1955 and as the University of Colorado's eighth president from 1956 to 1963. Through the Newton Chair, Quigg Newton's legacy of leadership will continue to touch the lives of the students, faculty and staff of CU-Boulder.

By working collaboratively with existing leadership programs and resources at CU-Boulder and within the community, the Newton Chair is focused on exposing more students to leadership training and development, elevating CU-Boulder's programs to new levels of success and building a shared vision of Boulder's distinct approach to leadership education.

The Newton Chair also helps bring experienced leaders from government, business, higher education, the military and the public sector to campus to interact with students and faculty and advise students on leadership paths.
