Coaching Program

The Center for Leadership is excited to offer a one-on-one Leadership Coaching Program for students during the academic year.

Research demonstrates that leadership coaching is effective in heightening leadership identity in university students, as well as furthering targeted leadership behaviors. Kolditz, T., Gill, L., & Brown, R.P. The CFL Coaching Program is limited to 30 students each semester. Students will be partnered with a professional leadership coach for the fall or spring semester. Students will receive approximately 10 hours of coaching during the semester at no financial cost (a $5,000 to $10,000 value). Leadership coaching will include:

  •   One-on-one sessions with a professional leadership coach over the course of a semester (fall or spring).
  •   Students define their own leadership goals and the steps necessary to activate them.
  •   Sessions are self-scheduled at your convenience.
  •   Students may take an assessment to increase their self-awareness as a leader.

Students will be asked to participate in research related to their coaching experience. Individual coaching content and sessions are confidential between the student and coach.

WHAT IS LEADERSHIP COACHING?

Leadership Coaching examines the models and techniques used to develop leadership in others through a coaching relationship. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

We are hopeful that leadership coaching outcomes will lead to a long-term coaching program that is widely available to CU students.
