October 2020 – Congrats to PhD student Duong Nguyen on receiving the AMTA/Reclamation Fellowship for Membrane Technology!

June 2020 – Congrats to PhD student Sangsuk Lee on his paper out in Journal of Membrane Science (first from our group)!
Takeaway: Designing osmotic distillation membranes with low thicknesses will allow them to outcompete conventional membranes in both water productivity and selectivity
February 2020 – Duong recieves the Multi-State Salinity Coalition (MSSC) Student Scholarship! Duong and Tony went to the MSSC Summit in Vegas to accept the award.
July 2019 – Review on solar desalination published in Science Advances
Our group co-authored a paper that lays out a framework for developing efficient solar-thermal desalination processes. The work emphasizes the importance of system design, rather than materials, in improving the efficiency of solar-thermal desalination systems. Article is available open access at Science Advances.
June 2019 – Prof. Straub gives seminar at UBC in Vancouver
Prof. Straub travelled to Vancouver to give an opening seminar at the WEST Symposium and meet with faculty.
February 2019 – Prof. Straub visits collaborators in Israel
Prof. Straub visited Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel to give a seminar and meet with faculty. During his trip, he also attended the Dead Sea Water 2019 Workshop on Nanomaterials at the Water-Energy Nexus.
