Kian Lopez

Kian Lopez joined the Straub group in August 2020 and successfully defended his thesis in May 2025. His research focused on developing membranes that use gas–liquid interfaces for water purification and gas separations, with an emphasis on creating thin, stable selective layers by taking advantage of nanoscale capillary forces. Currently, Kian is working at OsmoPure Technologies to scale up and commercialize the membrane technology that was developed in the Straub lab during his graduate work.
