CU Boulder Jobs - Snow Edition

As a member of the CU Boulder Talent Community, we hope you will take a few minutes to explore more about the University of Colorado as an employer and institution.
Warm Up with Some Tea
The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is located right next to the Boulder Creek. It is a fantastic work of art completely built by hand. It was created in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and sent over to Boulder as a gift. They offer food for all the meals of the day and also a daily tea time that is not to be missed.
Lights of December Parade
Everyone is welcome to come and spectate this celebration of all holidays! Come and see floats made by the local community and make sure to bundle up as the parade makes its way through the heart of Boulder.
Night Hike to the Boulder Star
Since 1947, the star has been lit during the winter months! Visitors drive up to Flagstaff Mountain for an extraordinary night view of Boulder and the CU Boulder campus. It can become pretty icy when hiking to the center of the star so be sure to dress accordingly and wear shoes with good traction!
Go Skiing
Did you know that Boulder is only about 30 minutes away from Eldora Mountain Ski Resort? This makes for an easy and convenient trip to get you on the mountain faster. If you have more time or want to take a run on more challenging terrain, we recommend taking a trip to one of the many other ski resorts in Colorado. CU Boulder has a Ski Bus that visits A-Basin, Breckenridge, Copper, Keystone, Vail and Winter Park at a very affordable fair. If skiing is not your jam, research snowshoeing opportunities in the same mountains.
Take a Hike in the Snow
With access to miles of some of the most pristine hiking trails in the world, Boulder is a hiker’s dream. With trail access open year-round for trail running with your dog or hiking with friends, the possibilities are endless for amazing outdoor experiences. Some popular trails are the Royal Arch trail that starts at Chautauqua Park, and Mount Sanitas in North Boulder, both of which offer incredible views of the plains and the depths of the mountains beyond the foothills. Get out and explore!
The Polar Plunge
Start the New Year with a splash of cold water! The Boulder Polar Plunge is an event that takes place yearly on January 1st, one of CU Boulder’s 10 holidays for employees. Those who attend will jump into the Boulder Reservoir’s cold winter water. This event is also a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Find out more: https://bit.ly/32JUZzY

The Boulder Theater opened up in 1906, initially as an Opera House. Since then, the theater has gone through a few renovations and is now one of the most popular music venues in downtown Boulder. Check out one (or two) of the amazing concerts and other events that are constantly happening here. https://www.bouldertheater.com
Attend the Boulder International Film Festival
The 16th annual festival comes to Boulder on March 5 - March 8, 2020! Come and see films from around the world. Many of the films that are featured within the festival have received significant praise and nominations for Oscar awards. Come immerse yourself in an unforgettable experience and take some time away from the cold. Find out more at the BIFF website: https://biff1.com
Enjoy Some Sunshine
Do not fear, Boulder is not constantly chilly in the winter time! In fact, there are typically more days filled with sunshine than with snow. Colorado has been known as having “300” days of sun per year! Winter temperatures often average about 50 degrees!
