Between 2001 and 2018, the History Department conferred 73 Ph.D. degrees. Of these graduates, 23 (31.5%) have been hired into regular university faculty tenured/tenure track appointments. An additional 34 graduates (46.5%) have been have been hired into positions where the Ph.D. degree was either a pre-requisite for employment or was strongly desirable. These positions include adjunct faculty (visiting professors, lecturers, Instructors, scholars in residence, post-doctoral fellows, and professors of practice), co-editors of scholarly papers collections, book and historical magazine editors, civil service historians, and discipline-based entrepreneurs.
