Wendy Martin joined the Engineering Management Program in 2014 as an instructor. She earned her undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. After graduation, she went to work as a Lid Process Engineer for Metal Container Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch, where she was trained in Statistical Methods by Luftig & Warren International (LWI). After two years as an engineer, she moved to Colorado to work for the Metal Container Corporation Windsor Can Plant as Statistical Quality Control Manager, where she became skilled in the application of statistics in an industrial environment. While working as SQC Manager, Wendy delivered training in quality methods to employees of both the Windsor Plant and Anheuser-Busch in Fort Collins. She worked in management for 12 more years, moving to a role as Engineering/SQC Manager and finally as Quality/SQC Manager. As Quality Manager, she led her team to become the number one ranked supplier to Anheuser-Busch for all commodities supplied in 2006 and 2007, before “retiring” in 2007 to stay home with a new baby.
Wendy returned to the workforce in 2010 to teach in the Electro-Mechanical and Energy Technology Program at Front Range Community College. During her first year as an Adjunct Instructor, she won an award for Outstanding Instructor. In addition to teaching, she developed the curriculum for many of the courses including Metrology, Statistical Process Control and Lean Manufacturing. She was the lead for industry outreach, networking with local employers to incorporate identified skills for technicians into the curriculum. Additionally, she was a trainer for the Corporate Solutions group, teaching courses in Quality Management, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. While teaching at Front Range, she earned her Masters of Engineering from the Lockheed-Martin Engineering Management Program at the University of Colorado Boulder with an emphasis in six sigma, quality systems and applied statistics.
She has held an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification, and currently holds a teaching credential for Career and Technical Education with the State of Colorado.
