New certificate provides students new tools for communicating, learning STEM concepts

CU Boulder's new STEM Education certificate offers STEM majors an opportunity to teach science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts in local schools while developing the skills to more effectively communicate STEM topics. “Not only do education courses help me teach the material and engage students, I feel I have become a better student myself," said Kelsey Sheehan, certificate student.

The American Physical Society, a "leading voice in physics,” will honor CU Boulder scientists and educators as part of its spring 2019 awards. The Excellence in Physics Education Award will recognize an interdisciplinary CU Boulder team for their work with the Colorado Learning Assistant Program and the Learning Assistance Alliance, an international initiative based in the School of Education. Guaranteed admission now offered to high schoolers who study education

Colorado high school students interested in becoming teachers and community leaders can earn guaranteed admissions to the CU Boulder School of Education thanks to a new agreement between CU Boulder and two high school concurrent enrollment programs, Teacher Cadet and Pathways2Teaching® programs. The admission agreement comes at a critical time as Colorado and the nation face significant teacher shortages.
